Yes, Kashmir is generally safe for tourists. The popular tourist destinations like Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg are well-secured and welcoming. We recommend:

• Staying in registered hotels and houseboats
• Following local guidelines and curfews if any
• Traveling with reputable tour operators
• Keeping identification documents handy

Packing depends on the season:

• Summer: Light cotton clothes, light jacket for evenings, comfortable walking shoes
• Winter: Heavy woolens, thermal wear, down jacket, gloves, woolen cap, waterproof boots
• Spring/Autumn: Layered clothing, light sweater, windcheater

Don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a good camera!

Most of our Kashmir packages include a complimentary shikara ride on Dal Lake. The duration typically ranges from 1-2 hours depending on the package. Sunset and sunrise shikara rides are the most popular and can be arranged at additional cost.

From Srinagar:

• Gulmarg: About 50 km (1.5-2 hours drive). We provide private transfers in all our packages.
• Pahalgam: About 90 km (2.5-3 hours drive) with scenic views along the Lidder River.

Both destinations are well-connected by road and included in our tour packages with comfortable vehicle transfers.

We recommend:

• 4-5 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam
• 6-7 days: Above plus Sonamarg and day trips
• 8-10 days: Complete Kashmir experience including offbeat destinations
• 10+ days: Kashmir + Ladakh combined tour

For Ladakh, Indian citizens don't need special permits for most areas. Foreign nationals may require Protected Area Permits (PAP) for certain regions, which we arrange.

For Indian Citizens:

• No permit required for Leh town and most common tourist areas
• Inner Line Permit (ILP) required for: Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri, Dah Hanu

For Foreign Nationals:

• Protected Area Permit (PAP) required for most areas beyond Leh
• Valid passport and Indian visa

• Less than 7 days: No refund (rescheduling possible)

In case of unforeseen circumstances (natural disasters, political unrest), we offer rescheduling or credit for future travel.
